MH Boxes have been delivered to 1,269 Black girls in Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Connecticut.

90% of recipients reported that MH Boxes made them feel more comfortable talking about their mental.

    What's in the box?

    My favorite mental health tools.

    • Note - each box comes with a note from Mila encouraging girls to take the first step in discussing their mental health.
    • Journal - Wreck This Journal was a favorite among Mila's many guided journals. She included it because it helped manage stress.
    • Squishmallows  - a different Squishmallows is included in each box, providing comfort and snuggles for the girl it gets to go home with.
    • Fidget toys - various fidget toys are included because Mila would often find herself playing with her fingers when she was anxious. The range of fidget toys includes a pop-it, a tangle, a stretchy snake, a squishy, a block cube, a fidget spinner, and a fidget ring. Each toy provided different stimulation, some being small and discrete and useable under a desk during class without disrupting others.
    • Bracelet - Mila hand makes each bracelet in the box. This is a hobby she started after she was discharged from the hospital. The bracelets include lava beads, which are perfect for the Lavender essential oil that is included in the box. Using the oil will help provide a sense of calmness.
    • Model Magic - one of the first items Mila received during her mental health hospitalization was Model Magic. It is like slime but less messy (a win for parents!). The texture was soothing, and the ability to create art from it was an added benefit.
    • Eye mask - when Mila struggled to sleep at night, she learned that turning off screens and embracing the dark helped her get the most rest. She uses her sleep mask each night.
    • Stress balls - to squeeze your troubles away. Each has a different affirmation written on the front to remind girls they matter.
    • Storage bag - to store all your tools inside for easy travel.
    • Stickers - Vinyl stickers with relatable images and positive messages.
    • Mental Health Resources - local and national resources for when you need it.

56% of recipients had never talked about mental health with their peers before receiving a box.
